I believe a decimal point has been omitted in the figure 28, i.e. it should be 2.8 instead, right?
Anyway, the amount involved is too huge for us ordinary people to grasp!
By the way, it is good to know that the HK buyers have now refrained from the auction, which is a happy traditional event of Japan and therefore should be left to the relevant business traders themselves.

You’re choosing interesting stories, translating Japanese into English . Any chance you could occasionally slip in a humorous fake story from an English website, The Onion.com ? It’s a lot of work, but would be good for a laugh. For example: just learning the first three paragraphs of something like: “ACLU Defends Nazis’ Right To Burn Down ACLU Headquarters” would be a fun thing to learn and a way of introducing a form of American humor to Japanese people …
You have an interesting idea. I will look into it. But one thing I should point out is that only a small fraction of my listeners are Japanese, as this site is designed for non-Japanese studying the Japanese language.
