In Japan, the era name is used in addition to the western calendar.にほん で は せいれき の ほか に げんごう が つかわれて います。

in response to the question, ‘What year is it?’ ことし は なん ねん です か？ と いう しつもん に たいして
to say, ‘It’s 2019 under the western calendar.’ 「 せいれき にせん じゅうきゅう ねん です。 」 と いういい かた
It’s the 30th year of the Heisei era へいせい さんじゅう ねん です。
as for the era name, when the Emperor changes げんごう は てんのうへいか が あたらしく かわる と
the era name also changes in line with it げんごう も それ に あわせて あたらしく かわります
will change to a new Emperor あたらしい てんのう へいか に かわります
in line with this それ に あわせて
it will change from the current era ‘Heisei’ to a new era いま の「 へいせい」 と いう げんごう から あたらしい げんごう に かわる の です
