I have a question. How 昨年 is pronounced, kyonen or sakuten, as here in romaji it is written as sakunen, and in Pop-up and Vocabulary sections it is given as kyonen.
Also, is it good to use 宣告 in 緊急事態宣告 instead of using 宣言 in the same?

Thanks for your question. As for 昨年 actually I just misread it when I was doing the recording. They are virtually the same, but 昨年 seems a little more formal perhaps. Sorry about that. I corrected the kanji in the article. As for 宣告 and 宣言, that was a slight mistake too. 宣告 and 宣言 are fairly similar but the official word in Japan–the one that the government has been using–is 宣言. That is something else I will have to go back and make a change to when I get some time. I am living in Europe now and to be honest I am not getting enough Japanese input these days. Thanks for your valuable feedback. That was a great catch.
